The DOVE Project - Documenting Desegregation in Education

Old Dominion University Libraries has formed a state wide organization, Desegregation Of Virginia Education (DOVE) Project, to identify, locate, and preserve records that document Virginia’s school desegregation process.

The project is a growing collection of records related to the desegregation of public and private schools in Virginia, grades K-12 and institutions of higher education covering the time span of the mid-1940s to mid-1980s. Papers, photographs, newspapers, audio-visual materials, and oral histories related to school desegregation are actively being documented for this collection.

ODU has a publicly available on-line catalog of surveys of repositories relevant to this project.
