Remembering Jane Austin

Jane Austen was born on 16 December 1775, at the Rectory in Steventon (located in north-east Hampshire), the daughter of George and Cassandra (Leigh) Austen.

She died on this date of 18 July in 1817 in Winchester at the age of 41.

She was buried a few days later in the north aisle of Winchester Cathedral.

 Left is the 17th century house in which novelist Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life and where she wrote Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion.

Chawton Cottage is now Jane Austen's House Museum

This week's challenge invited us to peruse the Google Patent website.
I found myself sidetracked numerous times by the interesting submissions for patents.
When conducting a surname based search I realized the Casteel clan overall are a rather industrious group and have many patents affiliated to their name.
Below is one example - a submission filed in 1914 by Frank A. Casteel related to the mining industry:

  A great new site for UK researching, London Lives, has been launched.

Announcements for this site and related details were published in their blog, London Lives.

The website provides free access to 240,000 manuscripts which are fully searchable and contain over 3 million names. The manuscripts provide interesting reading and give one a glimpse into London life during the eighteenth century.
