The ad doesn't show you the next scene . . . the lady of the house slamming her husband up the backside with said Christmas gift. LOL
I can't make too much fun of this as I really wanted a Dyson and the only way I could swing the deal was to offer it up as a Christmas gift. :-)
Oh these vintage ads are too funny! Thanks for sharing.
A (male) friend of mine has finally learned...his motto is "no appliances for Christmas." I think he tried that one time with his wife and got what-for! So even though we joke about that line, I reinforce it with hubby every year!
I love my Dyson, but I remember being about 4 and going with my Dad in his pickup to collect my Mum's birthday present. A lawnmower. She was less than thrilled :-)
I love the post and all the comments. My Dad used to tell the story about the Christmas when he was 10 years old and he bought his mom a scrub brush as a gift. It was because it was his chore to clean the kitchen floor and it needed replacing! Both Dad and Grammy retold that story for years, from both points of view!
This ad is such a funny reminder...I remember my father giving my mother a vacuum cleaner for Christmas in the 1950's...she wanted it and was very pleased... Times have changed, that's for sure...no vacuum cleaners for me..
A 'Hoover' was so NOT on my list! What a great ad. Thanks for sharing!
