Ruth Freeman Welcheck of Ohio - Problem Solved.

I was searching for Ruth (Freeman) Welcheck, the spouse of John J Welcheck.  I last saw the couple in the 1920 census.  Then nothing more on Ruth  (John dies Feb 1930 and their son is residing with the Welcheck grandparents in 1930 census).
Then, finally, I locate a short legal notice in a 1931 newspaper referencing Ruth Tishel formerly Welcheck, and with that clue I was able to find the following:

A lot of questions are answered in just this one record.

Finding a maiden name

Today I was able to locate the record of Robert Joseph Welcheck's first marriage.
We had learned of his first wife, Jennie, from the 1920 U.S. Fed. census giving her birth year of 1899 and marriage yr of c.1916.  Now know we have her maiden name of Soukup and date married as well as her birth date (as they made note of her 18th birthday for the marriage).

Now she is no longer Jennie [wife of Robert J Welcheck] in my database; she is Jennie Soukup.

Tormented by Fire

It was by pure accident that I stumbled upon this 1880 article about our ancestor, John Busch.
I was attempting to confirm & verify the spelling of the street name written in the Cuyahoga County, Ohio, 1880 Federal census when a link to this article appeared in the Google search results for:  Lussenden Ave. & Cleveland.
John Bush?  I knew our John Busch resided in Cleveland but I had failed to note a street address.  A quick census search confirmed this was our man!

The Welcheck family was residing at 36 Lussenden Ave. Cleveland Ohio, while the Bush/Busch Family was at 76 Lussenden Ave.  The son of Frank Welcheck (Vlcek), Stephen Welcheck, married the daughter of John Busch, Maggie Busch.  Putting them together by this proximity (along with other information) also helps confirm that the family recorded in the 1880 census as Frank, Katie and Stephen Watcher, were indeed the the Welcheck family.

A very special "Thank you" to Nolichucky Roots who answered my query in He Must Be Somewhere.

Finally Confirming a Hunch

I had always figured that the surname Welcheck was an americanized spelling, but it's origin had yet to be identified.  Thanks to pilot.familysearch.org  I was able to locate a marriage record that has given me the evidence I needed.
I knew from oral family history and census records that Margaret Busch and Stephen Welcheck were married in Ohio in 1887.   I did a marriage record search using Margaret Busch, 1887, & Ohio as the search criteria with 'exact & close matches' allowed and got the following result:

Now I can go forth and scour the immigration records for the elusive Stephen Vleck ...
Just one more small but wonderful find on the free Family Search site that Ancestry.com could not fullfill.
